Service Release features
This service release will update your FaxNow! installation to "build
639". A number of issues are resolved by installing this service release.
These are listed below:
- Windows 2000: Windows 2000 printer driver support added.
- UK: Big number change upgrade wizard has been added to address changes
being made to telephone numbers in certain regions within the United
Kingdom. This will automatically make these changes for you throughout
the FaxNow! system.
- PhoneBook: A new CSV import wizard for the FaxNow! PhoneBook has
been added.
- Send Method: The Send Method combo selection on the print dialog
will only show methods that the server has the ability to handle.
- DTMF: DTMF inbound routing support is now fixed in the modem driver.
- Groupwise 5.5: Previously in a GroupWise 5.5 client, if you selected
a single address from the phone book you did not get the option to specify
a CoverPage (or to be more precise it ignored any selection of CoverPage
you made). This problem has now been fixed.
- Groupwise 5.5: You can now send to multiple recipients from Groupwise
5.5.
- Groupwise 5.5: A Groupwise 5.5 client will no longer append many
spaces to end of message text.
- API: Sending faxes through the FaxNow! API now fills in the Senders
name.
- FPS: Various minor issues with the Fax Preference list have been
resolved.
- Coverpage: Coverpage backdrops are now created in the correct directory.
- CAPI: CAPI modems can now send to fax numbers that may contain non
numeric characters such as +( ).
- CAPI: Some Windows 98 CAPI installations reported an error 3400000c
during a send operation. This is a non critical error and is now treated
as such.
- CAPI: Added the ability to stop a CAPI modem from anwering the call
if certain DDI numbers were detected. See knowledgebase for further
details.
- GUI: The upgrade license dialog on FaxNow! server uses a different
font to make entering your license code easier.
- Windows 98: Installing on Windows 98 will no long clash with your
current TAPI settings.
The following features and issues listed below were available with the
previous service release to build 600. They are included with the current
service release to build 639.
- Some systems have experienced problems when launching FaxNow!, the
following error messages may have appeared: "Server threw an exception
RPC server not listening".
- Support for Terminal Server has received several enhancements to
make installation simpler.
- Email integration - "Failed To Send Fax" error message. In earlier
releases this would simply contain 3004 in the message body. The correct
message is now contained, giving details of the failure.
- It is now possible to turn on a mail receipt option for emails sent
by the FaxNow! server.
- ToolTips for CoverPage files that contain more than one full stop
will now be formatted correctly.
- It will now be possible to successfully print from a 16-bit application
under windows 95 or Windows 98.
- When resubmitting a fax, the CoverPage originally used will now be
retained.
- Additional functionality has been added to the User Admin application
to restrict the options given within the Fax Manager.
- It is now possible to enter an internal fax number within the send
dialog, such as x232.
- The Activity Log File now records seconds for the fax start time.
- Fixed a loophole in the Fax Authorisation functionality. So users
cannot cancel faxes awaiting authorisation and therefore remove authorisation
status.
- Fixed a loophole in the Fax Authorisation functionality and paused
on queue status.
- Added the registry key "HKLM\software\faxnow!\fax server\Schedule
Params\Queue Polling Interval" to allow the user to specify how often
the Fax Server polls the queues.
- Previously the MAPI PhoneBook Connector would crash if MAPI Address
Book contained distribution lists.This problem is now fixed.
- Introduced integration with Maximizer 97. See the web site for more
details.
- Fax Attachments can now be sent using the API.
- The FaxNow! Fax Server now uses TAPI & Windows Modems to gain access
to a machines modems. This allows for modem sharing with other TAPI
compliant applications and easier installation of modems.
- Fixed a small issue with the "Retry Send Always" functionality.
- The Exchange Connector can now send emails from Word as an attachment.
- In some cases the MAPI connector would not see all entries in a PhoneBook.

- The activity log application was subject to daylight saving error,
where by it would display times as being 1 hour ahead.
- GroupWise email clients with the "Convert Attachments" advanced send
option selected have experienced problems in sending attachments via
FaxNow! This has now been resolved.
- If User Admin is running and someone else tries to run user admin
then the second instance of user admin will crash. This has now been
resolved.
- The About box in all applications has been updated to provide better
diagnostic information for Technical Support.
- The Save As... option in the Fax Manager and Fax Viewer is now capable
of saving to a non-local hard drive.
- The Select Columns... option in the Fax Manager is now disabled on
queues that do not support this functionality.
- Group PhoneBooks will now be displayed on client machines if User
Admin is running.
- Printer driver installation problems due to Service Pack 5 of NT4
have now been resolved.
- The Exchange connector will now no longer produce large log files
by default.
- Problems surrounding the Groups database and group phonebooks have
been resolved.
- When FaxNow! is run for the first time then the default FaxNow! application
will be visible. Subsequent runs will resume FaxNow! in its previous
state.
- Launching FaxNow! for a second time will now bring the default FaxNow!
application to the top. This has the same effect as double clicking
the FaxNow! system tray icon.
- CAPI support added, FaxNow! can now be used with ISDN modems, such
as the BT Highway - Speedway range or Eicon Diva range of products.
